Responsibilities:
Maintain and develop a customer base, including Regional Key Accounts, for Probiotics, Fibers and Naturals in North America
Develop business opportunities in the growing North American dietary supplements space, for the company’s entire product range for new and existing customers.
Ability to achieve annual sales targets and maintain accurate sales reports and forecasts for customer base. Create and work within budget guidelines for region.
Demonstrate a high level of expertise of product lines and services.
Effectively resolve quality or service issues that arise.
Manage and build strong, long lasting relationships with key customer decision makers and stakeholders at all levels & functions and within IFF’s internal stakeholders.
Develop key relationships with existing and new customers, and to make sure to bring forward subject matter expertise throughout the entire buying process.
Ability to convey technical/scientific data to all audiences.
Knowledge of CPG syndicated data bases (Nielsen/IRI/SPINS et al).
Develop and execute account plans and actions for local key accounts. Develop strong multi-functional account teams (Technical Service, R&D, Marketing, Regulatory, Supply Chain, Customer Service) to effectively interface with customers.
Lead direction & internal preparation for key customer meetings/presentations.
Be accountable for the market strategy, customer action plans, and development program pipeline required to grow or expand the business. Develop a deep understanding of the customer’s business and growth.
Participate in regional sales meetings and external customer/industry events.
Participate in all key performance management activities - goal setting, Employee Development Plans, performance reviews, etc.
Specific Tasks:
Travelling and daily contact with customers are parts of the job. Specifically, you will:
Be the primary commercial contact for your assigned customers within the nutraceutical market and arrange first level sales and technical support.
Maintain dialogue and build relationships with customers at the technical, purchasing, marketing, quality, supply chain and commercial level.
Maintain and develop a strong project pipeline, which should be reported in the CRM system ensuring up to date information is available to stake holders.
Introduce and promote new products / concepts to customers
Develop, present and negotiate sales contracts and other business-related agreements
Monthly forecasting and outlook reporting for territory
Monitor competitive activity and new product development
Qualifications:
Ideally you have a minimum of five years commercial experience in supplying to the nutraceutical space - preferably in probiotics or other specialty health ingredients having strong relationships to key markets across the USA. Experience from a large matrix organization is an advantage together with business development and conceptual selling. You hold a degree or equivalent in a science-related discipline; microbiology would be an advantage but not a must.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required – preferably in science related field; microbiology would be an advantage but not a must; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience: 7 years of technical sales or sales related experience desired. 5 years minimum experience is required.
Functional Skills: Proven business planning, sales/networking, execution, and follow-through skills required; experience setting annual goals and action plans for territory including key account plans; experience providing education and training to influence sales; demonstrated success in identifying and developing new business opportunities into sales; excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Domestic travel, up to 50% of the time, required.
